- Bread: 4 slices sourdough or rustic country bread
- Cheese & Filling: 1 ball (about 120 g) burrata cheese, drained and torn into pieces, 1 medium ripe tomato, thinly sliced, 8 10 fresh basil leaves
- Spreads & Seasonings: 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened, 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil, Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Step 1:
- Lay out the bread slices. Lightly butter one side of each slice these will be the outsides of the sandwich.
- Step 2:
- On the unbuttered side of two slices, layer the burrata, tomato slices, and basil leaves. Season with salt and pepper.
- Step 3:
- Top each with the remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out.
- Step 4:
- Heat olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
- Step 5:
- Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3 4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and crisp and the cheese is melty.
- Step 6:
- Remove from the pan, let cool for 1 minute, then slice and serve immediately.
