Warm, flaky hand pies filled with spiced apples and air fried for a golden finish. Simple, comforting dessert.
# What You'll Need:
→ Filling
01 - 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
02 - 2 tablespoons brown sugar
03 - 1 teaspoon lemon juice
04 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
05 - 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
06 - 1 teaspoon cornstarch
→ Pastry & Finish
07 - 1 box refrigerated pie crusts (2 sheets), thawed
08 - 1 large egg, beaten
09 - 1 tablespoon milk
10 - 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
11 - Powdered sugar or glaze, for optional drizzling
# Directions:
01 - Combine diced apples, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly and cook for 5–6 minutes, until apples are tender and mixture has thickened. Transfer filling to a bowl and cool completely.
02 - Unroll pie crusts on a lightly floured surface. Using a 4–5 inch round cutter or glass, cut out 8 circles. Gather and re-roll scraps as needed.
03 - Place about 1 tablespoon of cooled apple filling on the center of 4 pastry rounds. Top each with a remaining round. Seal edges by pressing firmly with a fork.
04 - Whisk egg and milk together. Brush surface of each hand pie with egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
05 - Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes.
06 - Arrange hand pies in a single layer in the air fryer basket, cooking in batches if needed. Air fry for 10–12 minutes, until golden brown and crisp.
07 - Allow hand pies to cool slightly. Optionally drizzle with glaze or dust with powdered sugar before serving.
