01 - Fresh strawberries — 1 cup, hulled and sliced
02 - Fresh basil leaves — 8 leaves
03 - Lemon wedges — 2 wedges (optional, for garnish)

04 - Simple syrup or agave nectar — 1 to 2 tablespoons, adjust to taste
→ Liquids
05 - Fresh lemon juice — 1 tablespoon
06 - Chilled sparkling water — 1 1/2 cups (12 fl oz)
07 - Ice cubes — as needed
# Directions:
01 - Place strawberries and basil in a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker and muddle until the strawberries are broken down and the basil releases its aroma.
02 - Add the simple syrup or agave and the lemon juice to the muddled mixture and stir or shake briefly to combine.
03 - Fill two serving glasses with ice cubes to chill.
04 - Evenly portion the strawberry–basil mixture between the two iced glasses.
05 - Pour chilled sparkling water over each glass to top, then stir gently to integrate without losing carbonation.
06 - Garnish with lemon wedges and extra basil leaves if desired and serve immediately.
